Cape Cod Vacation

We just got back from a wonderful week long vacation to Cape Cod. We stayed in a small cottage only a short walk from the beach. The weather was beautiful (high 70-80s) and since it's not peak season there were not too many people there. Lily loved the sand and tidal pools. The beach we stayed at had dramatic high and low tides. During low tide you could walk out at least 1/2 mile in the sand. We spent some time at the beach every day, so relaxing. Lily enjoyed finding baby crabs, building sand castles, flying kites, running after the beach ball and playing in the tidal pools. On a couple of the really windy days we went out siteseeing to the Zooquarium, mini golfing and Children's Museum in Cape Cod. We also celebrated Father's Day while we were there. Lily made Grant a plate with her hand print on it that he loved. :) It was a wonderful vacation, but it's nice to be back home. There are lots of pictures and I'll probably post all of them on facebook a little later for those who want to see more.

Cinnamon Rolls...Yummy!

Yesterday I made my Gma's cinnamon rolls so Lily could eat them. This means with milk free butter and applesauce instead of an egg. As you can see from the pictures she loved helping! We had flour and sugar everywhere, but I know she had a good time. And the finished product this morning for breakfast, I heard a "Yummmmm" after every bite. Guess they tasted good to her.

18 months...a little late

Lily had her 18 month check up a couple weeks ago and I just forgot to post her stats.

Visitors from Iowa

My Grandpa and Letha were here this past week and just left today to head back to Iowa. We had a great time and hope they did too. Lily loved spending time with them and getting all the attention....despite her being cranky from her double ear infections and terrible cough. WE took them to Boston, the beach, and Portsmouth. Hope we didn't tire them out. These are a lot of pictures, but I know I haven't blogged in a while.

Great Weekend

We had a relaxing, but also very productive weekend. Lily turned 1 1/2 last Thurs. and Grant turned 31 on Friday. Lily made Daddy a very colorful mug for his bday and he loved it! I got Grant an evening out without a kiddo to Michael Timothy's (a very nice restaurant we love to go to, but can't anymore, b/c it's not kid friendly), and then we went to listen to a live band who we know the drummer in. Thank God for a babysitter!!! Ours is great and Lily had a great time with her or so we assume since she was sleeping when we got back and she told us she didn't have any problems putting her to bed. No crying at all. YAY Lily. That was our relaxing part of the weekend.

We also worked a lot on our yard/garden. We put everything in the garden this weekend and are really hoping that some of it grows. We planted tomatoes, peppers, green beans, lettuce, and broccoli. We also got a couple hanging basket plants and put hung them on our farmers porch. They look great and add lots of color to our white house. We went and looked at a bunch of other shrubs/plants to put in front of our house because what's planted there now looks like it's dying. We got some helpful hints from the lady working at the farmstand, but couldn't decide what we wanted. Lastly we bought a bunch of Daylily's and planted them in a little flower bed in front of our walkway to the front door. Hoping they bloom as well.

Bows and Flowers

Lily's hair is finally long enough to put in pigtails or bows as we do b/c she barely sits still enough long enough for them to go in. She will say "pretty" after she has them in.

Azalea bush in the front of our house. It's beautiful and we're surprised that any of our plants grew up this year from when the builder planted them last fall. Lily really enjoys picking the flowers. :)

Yard Work has begun...

I worked an 8 hour shift on Saturday and came home to our front yard fertilized and seeded. (we need grass to grow). And also to half of my garden wall started. Mind you, Grant did this all while watching Lily. What a wonderful husband I have. :) Grant finished the rest of the wall Sunday and then we filled it with loom tonight. (Pictures are without the loom). We also planted some hostas on the side of the house that doesn't get much sun.

It was also 90 degrees on Sunday so Lily enjoyed playing in the water. She wasn't too sure about the sprinkler though. I think we need to get her a kiddie pool.
